MAHOOSIVE LEONBERGERS KENNELS

Diary / Blog

September 2007

Two birthdays at Mahoosive Leos this month. Dusty turned three and Tilly turned two. It's Bilbos birthday next month.

Finished all the guttering on the dog kennels and runs and directed the water to two water butts - and then it stopped raining! However towards the end of the month the rain started again (and in typical British fashion didn't know when to stop). So we've now got two full water butts, a garden that has been watered naturally and the butts are beginning to overflow

The two girls are getting more used to their kennels. We're better off to keep them together in one kennel and run at the moment - but they are beginning to see the benefits of being away from us where they can get up to some more mischief.

The moult this year does not seem to have stopped - our carpet is growing at the moment.

No joy on the job front yet - still searching.

August 2007

Well this has been a strange month for Mahoosive Leos.

The whole web site was redesigned and some extra sections were added. This was due in part to the fact that I was made redundant at the start of the month after 23 years working for one company as my role was being off-shored. So I had some free time on my hands and settled down with some HTML, JavaScript and XML manuals and started to read. So if anyone knows of any jobs for an experienced Teradata DBA / Architect / Designer or an old mainframe Cobol hacker please let us know.

The days were spent finishing off the installation of the first two kennels and runs (for the two older girls) - which meant building a small wall in front of the kennel base, fitting guttering to the back of the roof, adding a nice cushioned bed to the sleeping quarters and staining the wooden parts so that they blend in with the fences etc.

We are now patiently trying to get the girls acclimatised to the kennels so that they can spend some time out in the fresh air by themselves. This is a long slow process, although whilst they are in the kennels I am working on the other side of the garden preparing the ground ready for the concrete base for the next (and last) two kennels and runs, so someone is with them to settle them down.
